To unite and empower first responders by creating spaces that foster connection, celebration, and personal growth — beyond the call, beyond the uniform, beyond the scope.
A thriving, resilient first responder community supported by shared experiences, meaningful dialogue, and a culture of wellness that transcends professional boundaries.
Beyond the Scope is a movement built for first responders — and everyone who stands with them. Born from the realities of life on the front lines of EMS, fire, dispatch, and law enforcement, Beyond the Scope exists to create space for connection, restoration, and community.
Whether you’re wearing the uniform, loving someone who does, or simply showing up as a supporter, you’re part of this story. We’re here to honor the human behind the job — the one who carries the weight, cracks the jokes, pushes through the shift, and still shows up at home. This is a space to decompress, to be seen, and to be reminded that you are more than the role you play.
Through social events, storytelling, and shared experiences, Beyond the Scope brings people together around a simple truth: service may be the job — but it doesn’t define the person. This is where the culture of care meets real-life connection. This is your community, beyond the call.
Who It’s For
We welcome first responders, dispatchers, firefighters, law enforcement, EMS providers, as well as the friends, families, supporters, and advocates who walk alongside them. If you’ve ever carried the weight, loved someone who does, or simply showed up to support — you belong here.
What We Believe
You are more than your title, more than your trauma, and more than the last call you ran. The culture of service is powerful — but so is stepping back, decompressing, and reconnecting with what makes us human.
What We Do
We host social events and share real stories that speak to our shared identity. Everything we do is meant to bring people together, to honor the full experience of serving — and living — Beyond the Scope.
Why It Matters
Service may be the job — but it doesn’t define the person. We’re building a nationwide community where burnout meets belonging, where tough jobs meet real people, and where support is more than just a word — it’s a way of life.
Origins of Beyond the Scope
In 2023, a close friend and I began talking about first responder mental health — about how much more could be done to support the people who spend their lives helping others. We tossed around ideas, but nothing stuck. I didn’t yet have the clarity or direction to make it real.
Then, in late 2024, another incredible friend reminded me of something simple but powerful: No one is ever truly alone. That message lit a spark. I wanted to create spaces where first responders could come together, build deep, meaningful connections, and know they have a community that always has their back.
I’ve always been a bit more on the isolated side, but I’ve found family in my first responder circles wherever I go. Over the years, those friendships have connected me more deeply than I could have imagined. Social media has shown me that people can be there for you from anywhere — a truth that inspired me to make this vision real.
After months of “someday” conversations, that same friend told me, You just need to do it. My therapist echoed the same words: What’s stopping you? Start.
The name Beyond the Scope comes from something I often say: “There is such a thing as a scope of practice, but no such thing as a scope of knowledge.” To me, that means we should always stay open to learning — not just within our skill set and comfort zone, but beyond it. That applies to more than just the job; it applies to life.
So, I started. And now, here we are.
